It’s the small things that put the biggest smile on my face.
Now the keyboard shortcuts Shift + Control + Up Arrow and Shift + Control + Down Arrow work just fine in Word for the Mac. You need to disable two options here – Mission Control and Application Windows so deselect the two checkboxes and close the window. To do this, launch System Preferences and select Keyboard > Shortcuts. Turns out, if you disable that Mac default shortcut then the Word one works. Now I don’t use Mission Control at all so I have no need to go backwards and forwards between Mission Control and Application Windows and, worse still, I often hit those keys by mistake so I can easily live without this shortcut. So far so good – problem is that these are the exact same keystrokes that display Mission Control and Application Windows on the Mac so they don’t work.
The Mac keystroke is a little different – press Shift + Control + Up Arrow or Shift + Control + Down Arrow. From the styles on the Home ribbon, click the level of heading you want. Sadly on the Mac this doesn’t work the same. You dont have to highlight the text, just click once anywhere in the paragraph. In Word on the PC you can click in a paragraph or select a paragraph or two (or even a row in a table) and move it up and down the document using Shift + Alt + Up Arrow of Shift + Alt + Down Arrow.
When the Mac keyboard shortcut doesn’t work – here’s how to fix it! Hi to all, I use a very nice CAT program (computer aided translation) called OmegaT and often like to highlight a word, go up to Services and then click on Look up in Dictionary (which is then set up with a number of dictionary/wiktionary/wikipedia plugins).
There are plenty more tricks to the Dictionary app, though. Apple’s Dictionary app remains a staple of the macOS system and allows you to easily look up word definitions on Mac. Activate your keyboard shortcut command, and it should open the Dictionary app. Add Mac Keyboard Icons to Word documents (and other things) Test the shortcut by opening any site or a Google search and clicking on any word.Print a List of Files in a Windows Folder.Left Arrow to Get to the Bottom of a Word Document - Mac Only Stupidity.Copy Excel Formulas Without Updating References.Move a Paragraph Up or Down in Microsoft Word (Mac).Clean Up Time! If not then my solution is not the same for your bug. To do this through a Mac shortcut, simply highlight click (even without highlighting) any part of the word you want to define, then press + Control + D.
I then bought a license for MS Office 2019 for Mac and encountered the highlighting contrast issue.
I upgraded my MacBook Pro Mid 2015 to Catalina.
